Situated at the crest of First Ave, the V.I.—as it’s known to regulars—has long and colorful Skid road history. The modern chapter began when Patrice Demombynes and Jim Fotheringham took stewardship in May 1981. They fashioned a friendly and eclectic watering hole that combined French café and English pub styles and championed Northwest microbrews and local artists.

In April of 2008 the V.I. expanded its dining room and put in a new state of the art kitchen. Our skilled kitchen staff have created an exciting menu featuring local, fresh ingredients aimed at sharing the best the Northwest has to offer with our guests. What has always been one of Seattle’s favorite hangouts at the crossroads of Belltown and downtown is fast becoming one of Seattle’s favorite restaurants. Enjoy a few selections from our small plates menu after work or before a show, or come and savor a relaxing meal in our beautifully restored dining room.
